Welcome to River Network’s new Interactive Map!

For twenty years, River Network has been helping people understand, protect and restore rivers and their watersheds.

This new mapping resource is designed to help you:

  • Easily find River Network Partner groups working in your community
  • Discover your watershed address *
  • Get contact information for Congressional representatives **
  • Locate River Network offices
  • Visit National River Heroes
  • View Past and Future National River Rallies
  • See rivers and water bodies not shown on standard Google Maps

As with any resource, this is a work in progress. In the coming months we will continue to add new, searchable information, such as: who is working on what major water issues; who is hosting a river clean up; is there a monitoring program in my watershed; finding health experts working on contaminant issues; and more.

In time, we will add new layers that will map the more than 6,000 groups listed in the National River & Watershed Directory; areas where River Network is engaged in specific programs; and more ways that you can get involved with exciting on-the-ground projects.

We’re also very interested in hearing from you about information that you would like to see. Please contact Matt at mburke@rivernetwork.org if you have comments/suggestions.

Special thanks to Wansoo Im and Vertices, LLC for their work in helping us develop this mapping site.

About IMRivers

IM Rivers is an interactive mapping web portal designed for watershed and river environmental conservation groups. The project was conceived and developed by several environmental organizations with Dr. Wansoo Im.  The initial IMRivers project for Alabama was funded by the World Wildlife Fund and River Network and since that time, many grassroots organizations throughout the country have adopted IMRivers to help steward and plan for the conservation of our precious environmental resources.
Participating organizations include:

  • Muddy Water Watch Program, North Carolina
  • Upstate Forever, South Carolina
  • Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition, Connecticut
  • San Diego River Park Foundation, California
  • Friends of Hurricane Creek, Alabama
  • Riversource, New Mexico

IMRivers helps you create interactive maps that display multiple layers of information including data, photos, video, and text. This information can include land use, pollution sources, clean up and restoration activities, water quality, flows, natural history or recreational access.  Each organization determines their own specialized content.
